Dwyane Wade Addresses The Controversial 2006 NBA Finals In A Fiery Instagram Post

Everybody is focused on the Cleveland Cavaliers having just won the 2016 NBA title. This is because it just happened and they beat the Golden State Warriors and because everybody has feelings about LeBron James. If you ask Dwyane Wade, however, people are talking about the 2006 Finals, the one where he and the Miami Heat beat the Dallas Mavericks. While it doesn’t seem like these the championship series from 10 years ago is getting “a lot of coverage” like Wade says, he does still go into his feelings on those controversial times in a lengthy Instagram post.

The photo that Wade posted involves Devin Harris fouling him, and that goes to the main point Wade is making in his caption. He takes umbrage with people saying he got an undeserved number of calls, and that the refs were biased toward him in terms of calling fouls. “Now what I’m reading about the series is unfair to me as a basketball player,” he says, “Did I get some calls that I could have played through YES. We all do…but was I attacking every time I touch the ball…YES.”

Wade also gives credit to the Mavericks for winning the 2011 title, making it a “wash” between the two teams. At the time, there was indeed a lot of talk about the calls Wade was getting, because there is always a lot of talk about stars getting calls. Clearly, it still irks Wade that people aren’t giving him the credit he thinks he deserves. He still has the ring, though, so he’s probably doing okay.
