Dwyane Wade Just Found Out He Was Prince’s Favorite Basketball Player

It’s pretty well-documented that the late Prince loved basketball. At the very least, we all know that the dude could play, according to one of the most famous skits in the history of Chappelle’s Show in which Prince and the Revolution kick the unholy hell out of Charlie Murphy and his friends in a game of pickup while wearing 1980s club attire.

But Prince was also a big fan of the game, and as we learned in an interview from before he passed away, he had a favorite team and player. Because of his connections to the state of Minnesota, you likely think that his favorite team is the Timberwolves and his favorite player is someone like Andrew Wiggins or Kevin Garnett.

Instead, Prince said that he is a fan of the Oklahoma City Thunder and his favorite player is Dwyane Wade. A very sleepy Prince – seriously, he woke up to do this 2012 interview, which started as a prank phone call – gave somewhat of a surprising answer at the 3:15 mark of the above video. So surprising, in fact, that Wade didn’t even know it existed until Monday afternoon.

Ever since Prince’s death, we’ve heard people come out with stories about cool, unbelievable things that Prince did while he was alive. Thanks to this, Wade probably has a story that can one-up just about anyone…except for Charlie Murphy, of course.
