What Did Gregg Popovich Say To Raptors Coach Dwane Casey That Has Everyone Fired Up?

Where are the “ItsReal85” folks when you need them? The NBA’s uproariously-NSFW version of the Bad Lip-Reading series has been mysteriously-silent this season, and it’s situations like this that could benefit from that brand of irreverent satire. To the point, Gregg Popovich inadvertently caused quite a stir over the weekend with this (likely innocuous) interaction with Raptors coach Dwane Casey following San Antonio’s win over Toronto on Saturday night.

Amateur lip-readers on Reddit are swearing that coach Pop said something along the lines of “I think you’re gonna get to the Finals. I swear to God. No bullsh*t.” Casey, however, immediately shot down that suggestion.

Still, Popovich could be forgiven for having plenty of reason to gush. At relatively-full strength, his Spurs barely eked out a 102-95 win over a short-handed Raptors team that was without both DeMar DeRozan and Kyle Lowry. It was a victory that required a career-high 33 points from Kawhi Leonard and 31 from LaMarcus Aldridge to overcome a balanced attack from Toronto, who had six players in double figures.

We’ll probably never know exactly what Pop told Casey in that instant. Of course, some naive reporter could probably just ask him. And as hilarious as that would be, it most likely wouldn’t result in anything resembling an earnest or truthful answer.
