Dwyane Wade has been the face of the Miami Heat for years. He helped lead them to three titles, and is a Miami icon. He is also now a Chicago Bull, having left the only NBA team he has ever known in free agency. There could be bad blood stirred up when something like this happens, but it seems that the Heat are more grateful for everything Wade has done for them, as their upcoming merchandise sale indicates.
Heat announce Friday "all Dwyane Wade merchandise will be sold for $13.00 at all The Miami HEAT Store locations." For his 13 Heat seasons.

Obviously, the Miami is left with a lot of Wade merchandise on the shelves that has quickly become obsolete. In order to unload the Wade apparel they have left, all Miami Heat Store locations will be selling Wade merchandise for the low, low price of $13. This is being done in honor of the 13 seasons that Wade spent with the Heat. On top of that, the Heat are taking out a full-page color ad of Wade in all three South Florida newspapers.
Since Wade is indeed a Heat icon, and he wrote a letter to Heat employees calling himself a “Heat lifer,” in a few years when he is retired wearing Wade apparel won’t feel weird. So, if you are a Miami fan, maybe stock up on some cheap Wade merchandise now, and then keep it in a drawer for a little while. Then, you will be able to wear it without a hint of awkwardness, and you’ll get a great deal in the process. Either way, it’s cool of the Heat to honor Wade like this, even if they are doing it in a way that will help them save some cash.
