James Harden has regressed greatly as a defender this season. This is not news to you, me, or really anyone who pays even a modicum of attention to the NBA. Yet this possession is especially dreadful, even by Harden’s incredibly low standards.
Everything in this sequence, from his exhausting disinterest in getting back to stop the ball to his ridiculous lack of effort in securing a rebound, is exactly why Harden’s defense comes under fire so often.
