JaVale McGee Looks Like He’s Ready To Be The Newest Splash Brother In Golden State

JaVale McGee experienced something of a career renaissance with the Golden State Warriors. The always intriguing center developed into a reliable threat for the eventual NBA champs, and in the process, rehabilitated his basketball reputation while being a legitimate factor.

Following that performance, McGee seemed utterly thrilled to re-sign in Oakland, and if video that surfaced this week is any indication, he’s not done improving.

While McGee becoming an absolute knockdown three-point shooter isn’t something that seems exceedingly likely, it is certainly impressive that the rangy seven-footer can shoot like this, even in a harmless workout. The 29-year-old is just 1-of-9 in his career from beyond the three-point arc (including a few long-range heaves, no doubt), but McGee has always been a smooth athlete, and it is undeniable that he looks (borderline) comfortable here.

The Warriors seemed to maximize McGee’s vertical talent a season ago, and that resulted in an obscene 65 percent clip from the floor from the big man. McGee may not be the newest Splash Brother alongside Stephen Curry, Klay Thompson and Kevin Durant on the league’s best team, but this is another reminder that even “non-shooters” in the NBA world can rain from distance behind closed doors.
