Sometimes, you just have to throw up a prayer and hope for the best, and every now and then, the basketball gods will answer that prayer. That’s what happened for Jeremy Lin on this inbounds play against the Sixers Friday night. After getting a trio of defenders to bite on the pump fake, Lin shrewdly drew the contact and tossed up an underhanded, no-look shot at the rim while facing the other way and somehow got the basket plus the foul.
