John Wall has been one of the best players of the postseason so far, and in Game 6 on Friday night with a chance to close out the Hawks and advance to the second round, the Wizards’ All-Star showed everyone why he’s arguably the best point guard in the East.

By the end of Washington’s series-clinching 115-99 win over Atlanta, Wall finished with a career-playoff-high of 42 points on 16-of-25 shooting from the field, to go along with eight assists, four steals, and a pair of blocks.

One of those was a massive chase-down block on a Dennis Schroder layup attempt at the eight-minute mark of the fourth quarter with the Wizards clinging to a 93-90 lead.

That block stopped a furious rally by the Hawks, who had clawed their way back from a 22-point third-quarter deficit. And he was only getting started as he scored 19 points in the final period and made several clutch plays down the stretch. He also took a moment to give an earful to Falcons receiver Julio Jones, who was sitting court-side.

Bradley Beal had a huge night as well with 31 points on 11-of-17 from the field, and Markieff Morris finally found his rhythm again as he put up 17 points and eight boards on 50 percent shooting.

Paul Millsap led the way for Atlanta with 31 points, 10 rebounds, seven assists, and four steals, while Schroder chipped in 26 points and 10 assists. The Wizards now head to the Eastern Conference Semifinals where they’ll face the Boston Celtics, who likewise closed out their series against the Bulls Friday night in Game 6.
