As longtime NBA sideline reporter Craig Sager battles cancer, the one undeniably great thing to come out of this awful situation is that people from all over the league are taking time to show how much Sager means to them. Team USA showed Sages love, and even Joe Biden paid tribute to the man. Before Sager became an inspiration to those fighting cancer, however, he was primarily known for his amazingly crazy style — and that’s what Jordan brand decided to highlight when they made him a signature shoe.
The above design, with the fantastic “Sager Vision” slogan across the soles, is perfectly emblematic of Craig’s aesthetic, which is to say it toes the line between a tacky eyesore and a revolutionary advancement of style. Is it gorgeous? Painfully ugly? Who’s to say, but before you hate on it, remember why it exists. For some reason, DJ Khaled debuted the design on his Instagram, but if there’s one dude who would un-ironically love every one of Sager’s color-blast outfits, it would probably be Khaled.
Based on the Instagram caption (and common sense), these appear to be a one-off not meant for production. Hopefully Craig himself gets to own those kicks, and see which of his suits matches them best.
