Karl-Anthony Towns’ Game-Winner Negated Damian Lillard’s Would-Be Game-Winning Four-Point Play

It started with Damian Lillard hitting a four-point play to give the Trail Blazers a one-point lead with only 3.5 seconds remaining.

It ended with a Karl-Anthony Towns game-winner.

That’s an unexpectedly effective play on the inbounds from Minnesota, and even more so, it’s diligent execution from the Wolves to make sure they clear out space for Towns. Of course, Portland made it a little easier for the Wolves, assigning Al-Farouq Aminu, a solid perimeter defender who has a major size disadvantage against Towns, to the eventual Rookie of the Year.

Towns didn’t rush like many other rookies would (because he’s clearly a 35-year-old in a 20-year-old’s body), sized up Aminu and sank a fluid hook shot to give the Wolves a one-point lead and the eventual victory.

And still, his game-winner wasn’t as awesome as Lillard’s — even if Dame took a dribble after the foul and it maybe, possibly, kinda, sorta shouldn’t have been a continuation foul.

Regardless, what a finish.
