Basketball and rap are intertwined to a level that goes far deeper than most realize — as 2 Chainz once explained to us — so whenever the latest album drops from one of the biggest names in hip-hop, you can be assured that NBA players will be quick to check it out and offer their thoughts.

Kendrick Lamar’s “Damn” was released to the public on Friday, although LeBron James had a copy early and previewed some of it on Thursday, because getting huge rap releases early is just part of the life of The King. The rest of the NBA’s players got their copies like the rest of us, and, like everyone else, they had thoughts on the album. The overwhelming response from NBA players was that “Damn” was serious heat — there were lots of fire emojis thrown around. This has been the general consensus from most Kendrick fans, which comes as no surprise.

NBA players are just as much fans of rappers as rappers are fans of NBA players. It’s a strange dichotomy, famous people being really excited to be around other famous people, but for so many basketball players, rap is something they wish they could do really well but can’t, and vice versa for hip-hop stars with basketball — just look at how excited LeBron James got to reunite the Hot Boys at All-Star Weekend.

We know how LeBron feels about Kendrick’s new album, but here’s how other basketball players felt about “Damn”:
