Kevin Love Left Wednesday’s Game Early After Injuring His Troublesome Left Shoulder

UPDATE: Phew! After the Cavaliers beat the Lakers, Tyronn Lue told reporters that Love’s injury was not of a serious nature. Cleveland even expects its star power forward to be back on the floor immediately following the All-Star break.

PREVIOUSLY: It was Kobe Bryant’s last game in Cleveland Wednesday night, but that occasion was marred by a potentially season-altering injury to a core player. Cavs fans collectively held their breath toward the end of the first half when Kevin Love had to leave the game and head to the locker room after suffering a shoulder injury. It appeared to be the same shoulder he dislocated in the first round of the postseason against the Celtics last year, and after he was evaluated at halftime, the team announced that he would not return.

There was no word, however, as to the nature or the severity of the injury, but we’ll have updates as they become available. The seldom-used Anderson Varejao was pegged to start the second half in his place.
