The Knicks And A Bunch Of Gamblers Were Pretty Upset With The Grizzlies’ Last-Second Three

Memphis Grizzlies rookie Wade Baldwin added insult to injury at the end of the Knicks latest loss, marking their third-straight season with 50 losses. As the game clock ticked to zero, Baldwin launched a three-pointer from 41 feet and sunk it to put the final score at 101-88.

It was a grand time for Baldwin and it guaranteed all of the fans went home with a free chicken sandwich thanks to a Grizzlies promotion, but it didn’t sit well with anybody else. The Knicks certainly weren’t too happy, with Courtney Lee trying to chase Baldwin down to teach him about disrespect, and it didn’t sit well with gambling enthusiasts either. The last-second shot pushed the score above the +12.5 line for the Knicks and cost anybody with money on the game a lot of money. Lee shared his disgust after the game according to the New York Daily News:

“By the time I got over there to that area he was already trying to get the crowd hyped and walking through the tunnel. Like nobody is getting hyped for you, bro,” Lee said. “You just shot the ball at the end because you wanted to score 100 points. Nobody is going to remember you or that shot….

“I guess he was hungry, Mike Conley, Marc (Gasol) and Vince (Carter), they told me they were going to say something to him in the locker room. So I just let them handle that.”

Knicks coach Jeff Hornacek wasn’t a fan either, pointing out that he played in the “80s and 90s” and using the near-brawl between the Pacers and Raptors as an example of what can happen. All of this is a silly controversy, though, and proves that putting money anywhere near a Knicks game is a bad idea.

But hey, free chicken sandwiches for all.
