This Kid Spent Over Three Hours Getting Kobe Bryant’s Face Shaved Into His Head

When you’re 35 years old and you ask your barber to shave Kobe Bryant’s face into the back of your head, it’s grounds for you to be mocked and fired. But when you’re 9 years old and you do that, it’s adorable and fun and totally worth the three hours in the barber’s chair.

That’s what Marcus McQueen decided to do in advance of Bryant’s game at Target Center against the Minnesota Timberwolves. The likeness is uncanny, right down to the eyebrows.

Marcus was interviewed as well, an interview in which an adult man referred to him as “buddy,” which is our automatic setting for speaking to children that have no relation to us. No one can explain it, but it’s true.

According to Lakers radio play-by-play guy John Ireland, Marcus and his dad drove four hours from Illinois to watch Bryant, who rewarded the boy’s love and dedication with 11 points and a crushing 123-122 Lakers loss in overtime. To top it off, Marcus had to go to school today with Kobe’s face shaved into the back of his head. Maybe this story isn’t that fun after all.

The real shame of this is the Lakers could have allowed Marcus an opportunity to have a truly unforgettable night by allowing him to play in the game. If he just turned his uniform around, ran backward and flipped 3-pointers with his back to the rim, would anyone have been able to tell the difference between Marcus and Kobe?
