This is the encouraging update basketball fans and all concerned citizens across the country have been waiting to hear since Lamar Odom fell into a coma earlier this week. According to ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne, the former Los Angeles Lakers star is doing “way, way better” on Saturday.

Lamar Odom is “way, way better” and is more conversational as he remains in critical condition in a Las Vegas hospital, a source told ESPN on Saturday.

It was reported Friday evening that Odom was breathing on his own and spoke a few brief words to family members. Less than twenty-four hours later, there’s never been better reason to believe that the 35-year-old will live through this harrowing ordeal.

Odom was found unresponsive at a Nevada brothel on Tuesday and immediately rushed to Sunrise Hospital in Las Vegas. The following day, reports emerged that he’d suffered multiple strokes and potential brain damage, leading to widespread speculation that his life was in grave danger.

As Odom’s condition slowly improves, one of the most beloved players the league has ever seen continues to receive support from his peers. According to Melissa Rohlin of the Los Angeles Times, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan followed Kobe Bryant’s lead by visiting their former teammate at the hospital upon the Los Angeles Clippers’ return from China on Wednesday.

After the Clippers landed in Los Angeles on Wednesday night to conclude an exhausting whirlwind trip to China, Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan turned around and got on another plane that evening. They flew to Las Vegas to visit Lamar Odom.

We’ll keep you updated on Odom’s status as information becomes available.
