Blake Griffin Did Not Punch Lance Stephenson, According To Lance Stephenson

In the face of something really unfortunate, it’s sometimes hard for people to maintain a sense of humor. Take, for instance, when you’re a professional athlete and one of your teammates suffers a serious injury. That’s something no one ever wants to go through; it could impact the team for an extended amount of time and it might cause some tension in the locker room if the injury happens because, oh, someone got into it with a team employee.

Basically, what we’re saying is, it’s probably understandable if no one on the Los Angeles Clippers wants to joke about Blake Griffin’s broken hand, which is expected to leave him sidelined for the next four to six weeks — and possibly longer. But comedy is tragedy plus time, and apparently for Clippers guard/forward Lance Stephenson, there’s been more than enough time since Griffin got hurt. Stephenson decided to make a joke at his own expense as he cleared his name and said that he was not the employee who caught a punch from Griffin.

No one was exactly accusing Stephenson of getting into it with Griffin – the only “fight” he’s gotten into during his time in LA came when he playfully slap boxed ex-teammate Josh Smith around on the sideline earlier this year – but it’s nice to know that Born Ready isn’t the reason Griffin’s going to be out for a while.
