Skip Bayless’ Grade Of LeBron’s Monster Triple-Double In Game 2? C+, Of Course

Skip Bayless has created an incredibly lucrative career out of honing in on a superstar – say, LeBron James – and bashing the said player despite their overwhelming greatness. Bayless continued this streak of vomiting vitriolic nonsense today when he graded James’ brilliant performance in the Cavaliers’ Game 2 win over the Warriors with a C+.

It’s not as if LeBron had a measly 15-point, 11-rebound, 10-assist triple-double. No, his was a monstrous 39 points, 16 rebounds and 11 assists. If you want to dock him for his poor shooting  – he shot 11-35 from the field – then, sure, but who the hell else on the Cavs is going to take shots with any amount of reliability?

Bayless chides LeBron for missing what he called “a decent look” at the game-winning lay-up, snidely saying the best player in the world should make that shot. Which is kind of true, and LeBron probably makes that shot more times than not. But Bayless conveniently neglects how many defenders were draped all over LeBron at the time, not to mention the fact that he was probably fouled. In all likelihood, if LeBron had made it, Bayless would still probably find something else to nitpick.

Considering the circumstances, LeBron’s Game 2 was nothing short of a masterpiece, and LeBron himself has been nothing short of masterful so far in the NBA Finals. It’s a shame Bayless can’t appreciate that.
