LeBron James posted a pic of his newest shoes, the Nike LeBron 13 Elite, also being called the LeBron 13 Linens. The shoes are a mix of sports and leisure, with the black plate (made of carbon fiber) providing the support and look of your classic basketball kicks while the tan leather looks like the leather upholstery found on only the finest earth-toned, neutral furniture.
The Cleveland Cavs superstar is clearly quite proud of them, but scrolling through the comments shows that others are not so impressed. With several folks calling them the “Work Boot 13s” and the “Lebron Timberland 13s.” Which is at least not quite so harsh as Steph Curry’s last shoe.
To be fair, there are also a lot of compliments! That light leather hearkens back to some very nice car interiors we once saw when we went to the Lexus dealership to test drive some cars they knew we couldn’t afford. Depending on the light though, the leather also looks a little closer to gold. Maybe after finally bringing that championship to Cleveland, he decided it was time to class up the shoes with bit of championship pedigree. We can’t argue with that; if anyone deserves a trophy shoe after bringing his team back from a 3-1 deficit in the NBA finals it’s King James.
