LeBron James is not listening. The King needed to take a step back from social media amidst a faux controversy in which James unfollowed the Cavaliers on Twitter.
Granted, the above video of James mocking media members for speculating about his future in Cleveland isn’t on his official account. However, James is more than smart enough to know anything he does in front of a camera and/or phone is Internet-bound. And, so, here we are… again… talking about James… talking about his future in Cleveland (or somewhere else).
But now James is providing us with more than an eye roll and a “next question” with clear annoyance in his voice. He has jokes. Involving bananas. While the jokes are certainly merited at this non-story, the best thing James could do is keep that kind of stuff private. Yes, there’s the whole “distraction” angle, especially with the Cavs penciled in as the Eastern Conference’s No. 1 seed heading into the playoffs. But if this whole thing truly is a non-story, which it might very well be, then the best thing for James to do is let it all blow over.
The Internet will find something else to obsess about, like what stupid and vulgar nickname it can make out of LeBron’s name. But as long as James keeps feeding the beast, so will everyone else.
