Markelle Fultz Says It’s Been A ‘Long Journey’ As He’s Working To Get Back Onto The Court

There is no word on when Markelle Fultz will return to the basketball court. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 NBA Draft is still trying to bounce back from the shoulder issues that plagued him at the start of his rookie campaign and have led to him only seeing the floor in the Philadelphia 76ers‘ first four games of the year.

While the Sixers (and, more accurately, people on the Sixers beat who watch him shoot) have given updates on his status, Fultz has more or less been mum on how he’s been doing up until this point. On Tuesday night, though, Fultz did give a minor update to Caron Butler of TNT.

The two met up during the second quarter of Philadelphia’s 115-102 win over Washington. Fultz talked about his recover and how he’s trying to take a glass half-full approach to things.

“It’s been tough, but at the end of the day, I know it’s gonna make me better,” Fultz said. “It’s been a long journey just trying to re-learn it, I’m just going through it and I wanna go back out there as quick as I can but it’s been a slow process.”

Fultz using the word “re-learn” isn’t exactly reassuring, but it’s good to see that he’s taking his time and, because he is a member of the Sixers, trusting the process.
