Metta World Peace, the erstwhile Ron Artest, is currently in New York City playing in a summer basketball tournament and promoting his new clothing line, The Panda’s Friend. However, what does his future hold beyond that? World Peace has spent time playing overseas recently, returning last year to play in 35 games for the lowly Los Angeles Lakers. Does he have a future in the NBA? If you ask him, the answer is yes.

When asked if he was planning on playing in the NBA next season, Metta said, “Absolutely. The NBA is always on the front burner.” Asked if he was talking to teams, World Peace answered, “I’m waiting for teams. I can still play. I can play, it’s not even a question, man. But, you know, sometimes you don’t get in the game, man.”

World Peace certainly is not lacking in confidence, declaring, “I could have averaged 15 or 20 on the Lakers if I played, easily.” This despite the fact he hasn’t averaged 15 points since his 2008-09 season in Houston. He’s 36 now, and if NBA teams aren’t looking at him right now, he might have to resign himself to not playing in the NBA this year. However, if a team does want to take a look at him, clearly Metta World Peace is ready to give it a go.
