This Kobe Bryant Hat Costs More Money Than Many People Make In A Year

Kobe Bryant‘s final game in the NBA — April 13th against the Utah Jazz, as if you needed any more reminders — is turning into one giant merchandising party. Or it’s already completely turned into one. Either way.

We’ve officially hit a new benchmark for the most outlandish item to be sold in the name of Kobe’s final game. New Era is releasing two limited edition caps, eight a piece, that will cost what many Americans make in a year. Each of the caps is made out of several ridiculous materials like lambskin, snakeskin, cashmere and even gold.

Pictures of the caps and all their astonishing glory can be viewed below, along with accompanying descriptions from a press release from New Era:

“The first cap is made of lambskin and snakeskin, a reference to Bryant’s ‘Black Mamba’ nickname, and contains 3.5 ounces of 18-karat gold in the shape of his number 24 on the cap’s front. Only eight have been made and it costs $38,024.”

“Also limited to eight, a purple cashmere hat with gold snakeskin that features yellow diamonds will sell for $24,008 each. Both hats come in a custom black leather box with Bryant’s number and an embossed Lakers logo.”

That’s some expensive headgear. Someone’s going to buy these things, too. Not us, though. And not you.
