Nike Super 6
Darryl “Truck” Bryant, 6’0 Sr. Guard, St. Raymond’s HS
How has the season been going for St. Rays so far? Is it what you expected?
The season has been going great; we’re 12-0, top 20 in the country. We couldn’t ask for more.
Who has been stepping up for St. Rays this season?
Omar [Lawrence], Kevin [Parrom]. They’ve been putting up numbers. Tyreak Johnson, the other seniors Rob [Young], Delroy [Daley] and Julio [Gomez] have all been stepping up.
Are you and the team excited about playing in the Nike Super 6 at Madison Square Garden?
We’re hyped. We’re real excited about playing on the big stage at the Garden. I have never played there, it will be my first time, so I’m definitely looking forward to it.
What are you doing as a team to prepare for the game versus St. Pats?
We’re keeping the same routine that we do for every game. We played them before and smoked them at a team camp in New Jersey, so we know what to expect. We might switch up some things defensively, how we guard them and stuff, but for the most part we’re not changing much.
You are committed to play college ball at West Virginia, why did you select the Mountaineers?
I like Coach Huggins. He is a Hall of Fame coach, he just got his 600th win and I feel he can help take my game to the next level. I liked the campus and everything about West Virginia it was a good fit for me.
How did you get the nickname Truck?
When I was young I was big and wide and they started calling me Truck. I’m smaller now, average build, but the name kind of stuck with me.
