Paul George’s Likely Accidental Tweet Adds Fuel To The NBA Offseason Fire

Paul Pierce thinks the Boston Celtics should try to acquire Paul George from the Indiana Pacers. But what does George think of the plan to move the top pick in the draft for a current star like, oh, Paul George?

Some say George nearly telegraphed his intentions on Thursday by replying to a Bleacher Report article about Pierce’s thoughts on Twitter.

Was it a butt tweet? Did he think better of responding and accidentally hit send instead of delete? Much like the person you “researched” on Instagram 58 weeks into the past and accidentally tapped the screen twice to like a photo, the intention may not be entirely clear but it’s pretty obvious something was happening here and we got a peek at it.

George’s next NBA destination isn’t a decision that needs to be made this summer. He’s not a UFA until 2019 still under contract, but now that he can’t get the supermax deal if the Pacers wanted to hit the reset button and move George, getting the top pick in this year’s draft seems like a good start.

Pierce said on The Jump on Wednesday that the best thing the Boston Celtics could do is acquire someone like George and maybe Gordon Hayward in free agency, then they might be capable of taking down LeBron James and the Cavaliers in the postseason.

If George is looking for a ring in a hurry, moving to Boston isn’t a bad option to do it. Unless he’s willing to wait and see what a team like the Los Angeles Lakers would do for him in free agency. But that just means more waiting, and maybe more slips on social media.
