Russell Westbrook Looks Totally Comfortable and Himself In His Pre-Ripped Pregame Overalls

It could be that we have it all wrong. We love pointing and gawking at Russell Westbrook’s many outlandish pregame outfits. There was the time he looked like a futuristic astronaut:

The time his sweater looked like it was covered in tin foil and/or a breastplate from a suit of armor:

And, most recently, whatever this is:

But what if these clothes aren’t outlandish or outrageous? What if we’re actually just boring, and Westbrook, who cannot stand even the thought of boredom, is doing his best to enlighten us, to have us change our ways. “Embrace the wild and the eccentric,” he and his clothes seem to shout. Jeans and an oxford, pants and a coat, khaki’s and a button-down – these are all so drab, so incredibly dull to one as full of life as Westbrook.

Yes, I think that’s the problem here. Westbrook’s wardrobe is not crazy. We, the ones who look at those cropped pants, shiny sweaters, too-big sunglasses, are far too insane. Life is meant to be lived, expressed not just in words and actions but clothes as well. That’s all Russell Westbrook’s doing. He’s showing us the error of our plain-clothed ways.

The next time you button up another drab blue shirt and tuck them into some colorless khaki mess, ask yourself: what would Russ think?
