The Kings Will Use This Sweet Retro Court For Special ‘Flashback Friday’ Games

After this season, the Kings will move out of Sleep Train Arena and into their new stadium, the Golden 1 Center, in downtown Sacramento. But between now and then, they’ll be doing some pretty cool things to commemorate the end of that era with a handful of #FlashbackFriday games that will include a retro court design that is a throwback to the old-school Kings logo and baby-blue color schemes they used from the mid-’80s to early ’90s.

Here’s more from the team’s official press release:

The entire court will feature a full makeover, with the original Sacramento Kings logo at center court and the original baby blue framing the playing surface. On the baseline, “SACRAMENTO” decorates the court apron in the original type face from 1985.

“Our final season at Sleep Train Arena has been filled with opportunities to look back at our rich history,” said Kings President Chris Granger, via the press release. “This court is a special way to salute all of the fans, players and coaches who have helped us build toward a proud future in Sacramento.”

Players will also rock the corresponding throwback jerseys during those games. But that’s not all. The franchise is going full-on ’90s with a string of halftime shows that include Vanilla Ice, Young MC, and Tiffany.

And for all of you lifelong Kings fans out there suddenly feeling nostalgic, here’s a great pic of the original Arco Arena.
