Shannon Sharpe Wished Kevin Love Tore Into Isaiah Thomas And The Rest Of The Cavs

Kevin Love is enjoying himself now that he’s an All-Star, but Shannon Sharpe still thinks he should have handled his recent drama with the Cleveland Cavaliers a lot differently.

The Cavs forward was the target of some accusations of faking an illness over the weekend in a blowout loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Reportedly it was Isaiah Thomas who led the charge against Love in a team meeting earlier in the week.

That didn’t sit right with Sharpe, who argued on Undisputed that Love should have fired back at Thomas and expressed his seniority on the Cavaliers. He also called out Derrick Rose, whose long absence was deemed fine by the Cavaliers players and staff.

“I couldn’t be Kevin Love,” Sharpe said. “When Isaiah did what he did, I would say ‘You know guys, I was just gonna sit back here and play the good company guy.’ Like ‘You’re right. I gotta play better.’ But since Isaiah came for me and I didn’t send for him, I’m here now.’”

Here is exactly what Sharpe would have said if he were Cleveland Cavaliers power forward Kevin Love.

“First of all, you got everybody up in arms about me missing the game. I had the flu. I felt faint. I felt dizzy. I went in the locker room. There’s nothing I could do. I didn’t want to spread whatever I had, so I left.

Hold on. You guys going to get onto me? Derrick Rose left here with a box. With a fade. And comes back here with dreads and you welcome him with open arms and you all up in arms because I missed 24 hours?

Kick rocks, Isaiah. You just got here. You have no seniority to address me in any manner. You just got here a month ago. Where you been?”

Skip Bayless and Chris Broussard suggest that maybe Love said something like that, and that it got “heated” during the meeting. But Sharpe suggests it wasn’t enough.

“It didn’t get heated enough,” Sharpe said. “He might of should have put the mitts on him.”

There’s really no way of telling what exactly happened during the team meeting the Cavaliers had, so it’s tough to say if Sharpe is right here. But that’s a hell of a metaphor he used when talking about the Derrick Rose. Shannon Sharpe is really good at what he does. And with creativity like that, he should probably be writing novels, not yelling at Skip Bayless for money.
