Yes, there were two games on the NBA schedule yesterday, and no, we didn’t see either one of them. All-Star in New Orleans is officially underway, and the Dime crew hit a few parties last night. The first one was thrown by EA Sports at the club Republic. There was an NBA Live 08 tournament during the party, which was won by Tony Parker (flanked by Eva Longoria). How about TP making his wife sit through like 3 games of him playing video games? But Eva didn’t seem to mind — she cheered for Tony just like she does at real-life Spurs games. Parker knocked off Kevin Durant and Rudy Gay in the tournament. The rest of the part-going list included: Deron Williams, Brandon Roy, Paul Millsap, Morris Almond, Gerald Green (totally under-dressed in a t-shirt and toting a backpack), Ronnie Brewer, Caron Butler, LaMarcus Aldridge, Jeff Green and Shawn Respert … When Durant started his game against Parker, playing as the Sonics, he started Robert Swift at center … Before Tony entered the Live tourney he was playing in the VIP section, and for a minute he was playing as the Spurs while Eva played as the Jazz. She was getting cracked … After the EA party we hit up Alonzo Mourning and Magic Johnson‘s pool tournament/party, thrown by Boost Mobile. A gang of celebs and ballplayers were in the building: Michael Jordan, Dr. J, Ludacris, Gabrielle Union, Fantasia, Vivica Fox, Chopper from “Making the Band,” Charles Oakley, Al Horford, DJ Clue (still with bodyguard), Chris Tucker, David West, Otis Thorpe, Rasual Butler, Michael Bivens, Chris Paul, Bob Johnson, Chamillionaire, Danny Glover, Allan Houston, Ryan Hollins, Luis Scola, Paul Pierce, Carmelo Anthony, Paul Pierce, B-Roy, Jerome Williams and Young Joc … Random sighting of the night: We’re going into the Boost party and Clarence Weatherspoon is standing behind us with a small entourage. We literally haven’t seen him in years. He could probably still get decent burn for the Sixers … We say it every time, but honestly, any time you see Michael Jordan it’s a memorable experience. This time we’re strolling through the party and come upon a table where Mike is playing Michael Bivens with a cigar hanging out of his mouth, bopping his head to “Poison” and “Motownphilly” … After that we dropped by a 2 a.m. breakfast hosted by Converse, with D-Wade in the house … This was of course only a few hours after Wade had played in Chicago, when his Heat lost to the Bulls. Wade scored 30, along with 7 boards and 7 assists, while Shawn Marion had 23 points, 7 boards and 4 steals. The bad news? Those two also combined for 11 turnovers … Meanwhile, Kirk Hinrich had 24 points for the Bulls, while Thabo Sefolosha put up 17 points, 12 boards and 4 steals … In Thursday’s other game, the Suns knocked off the Mavs behind Steve Nash‘s 24 points and 13 assists, and 26 points apiece from Amare and Leandro Barbosa. Dirk had 36 for Dallas, but other than Jason Terry (29 pts), no one else could get anything going … A press release announcing Floyd Mayweather‘s addition to the Celebrity Game roster described Floyd as “Dancing With the Stars alumni Floyd Mayweather.” Oh, and he just happens to be the best boxer in the world, whatever that’s worth … College ball: Jerryd Bayless dropped 33 points on Cal in an Arizona win, and AZ’s other super-frosh, Arizona State’s James Harden, scored 23 in an upset win over Stanford in OT … We’re out like Swift starting …
