Steph Curry Mimics President Obama’s Speech-Like Trash Talk On ‘Ellen’

Last week, LeBron James went on Ellen and warned the audience to be wary about Stephen Curry’s smile. This week Curry joined the show and told the audience to be wary of another competitor.

Barack Obama is no stranger to athletic endeavors. He’s a big hoops fan and has been spotted playing pickup ball on several occasions. And like other ball players, he can be found on the golf course, too. Curry told Degeneres and Barack’s wife, Michelle, about the last two times the two hit the course.

“I’m a better golfer, but obviously, you put in the handicaps so everything is fair. The last two times I’ve played I’ve lost to him,” said Curry on his losses to Obama. When asked about the handicap of the president, he decided to keep that answer a secret between himself and the commander in chief. “I’m a two, but I was told not to disclose that information on our president. Our president said that’s top secret.”

Trash talk is huge both on the hardwood and the golf course, and Curry said that Obama’s trash talking isn’t too different from the way he addresses the country in his speeches. “You know how during his speeches he has that kind of slow cadence that kind of draws you in?” Curry began. “He brings that same kind of vibe to his trash talk. So I’ll hit a ball out of bounds and he’ll just look and be like, ‘yeah, that’s not a good shot.'”

After some laughs, Michelle offered up some advice to Curry for getting back at the president. “As you’re putting, you want to say, ‘The shadow from your ears is really messing up my putt.'”

This isn’t the first time Obama has given Curry a hard time on the links. Last summer, Obama teamed up with Ray Allen to play against Steph and his father Dell, and there was some trash talk among that foursome.

It appears Curry isn’t happy with a pair of losses to the president, and there may be more stories about the NBA’s MVP and the country’s president on the course in the future.
