It can be almost hard to remember that Steph Curry just had one of the most remarkable seasons in NBA history. The repeat MVP got the trophy by way of a unanimous first-place vote; the first time the league has ever seen such a feat. LeBron James’ sensational Finals and Kevin Durant’s stunning decision to join Curry on the Golden State Warriors have obscured the fact that for several months, the biggest story in basketball was simply watching Curry do work.
In the dog days of July, let’s take a minute to remember.
Here’s Steph dominating the league all over again, in a 20+ minute mix made by a fan who surely has love for the game coursing through his or her veins. Watch Steph as he ends regular season games in the first half all over again, dribbling between defenders as though they are unfeeling pylons, dead and sad beneath the spark of of wizardry in NBA space, and pulls up for plethoras of three-pointers from distances that have coaches everywhere reconsidering how they instruct the game. Watch as Curry makes behind-the-back passes that make defenses clueless, and incapable of proper anticipation.
It’ll be quite interesting to see how Curry’s pyrotechnic play evolves (or doesn’t) next to Durant this upcoming season. It might never be the same. But for now, we’ll always have the past two seasons.
