Steph Curry Isn’t Too Worried About His Hideously-Swollen Shooting Elbow

Warriors fans around the world heaved a collective gasp Wednesday night in the first half of Game 2 when their two-time MVP Steph Curry went barreling into the stands to try and save a loose ball. He was a little shaken up on the play, but that didn’t stop him from later going on an epic 15-point scoring spree midway through the third quarter that helped secure the win and even the series at 1-1.

What’s more impressive is that Curry’s histrionics came despite the gnarly-looking elbow on his shooting arm that had swollen to the size of a baseball after his earlier fall. He did, however, help quell the fear of any lingering problems the injury might pose moving forward. Via Ethan Sherwood Strauss of ESPN.com:

On Friday at the Warriors practice facility, Curry said of his latest injury, “Oh, it’s fine. Swelling went down, so no worries.” Curry was sporting a shooting sleeve on the elbow, describing its purpose as “just compression to make sure I can get shots up and not have any swelling.”

“It’s sore, just because of the impact, but the spot it’s at doesn’t affect the range of motion, so I can shoot and dribble and do all I need to do,” he said. “It’s uncomfortable, but it’s not necessarily painful.”

Curry was forced to sit out parts of the first and second rounds of the postseason with knee and ankle injuries, so Warriors fans would certainly be justified for their concern. Today’s news should come as a relief, but it’ll definitely be something to monitor when Game 3 tips off on Sunday.
