38-Year-Old Stephen Jackson Says He’ll ‘Be Back In The NBA This Year’

Last month, former NBA pro Stephen Jackson, perhaps prematurely, announced not only that he was in the midst of an NBA comeback, but that he would be attending training camp with the 73-win Golden State Warriors. A local beat reporter, however, later refuted that claim.

Regardless, Jackson remains adamant the he’ll be back in the league next season, as he reiterated in the Instagram video above on Thursday.

“I just want to let everybody know that I will be back in the NBA this year,” Jackson said. “I can’t say exactly what’s going on right now, because you know, people try to run with stuff, and everything’s not locked in yet, but I will be back in the NBA this year. So to everybody that’s been supporting me, praying for me, I appreciate it. The haters, I appreciate ya’ll too, because ya’ll motivated me to prove ya’ll wrong. I know y’all are feeling stupid right now saying I was too old and I couldn’t do it.”

The 38-year-old Jackson hasn’t suited up for an NBA game since 2014 when he played briefly for the Clippers. Always candid, insightful and entertaining, he’s become a semi-permanent fixture on ESPN’s The Jump with Rachel Nichols. At this point, it’s unclear what, if anything, Jackson has left in the tank as a basketball player, but we’re certainly eager to find that out.
