Steve Kerr Responded To Dennis Rodman’s Rest Rant With A Great Joke

Steve Kerr has a much different perspective than many of his playing peers when it comes to the NBA’s rest debate. That’s because Kerr, who played in the 90s which players love to look back on as the glory days of physical, tough basketball, is presently the coach of the Golden State Warriors and gets the data and information on why players getting rest is important.

Kerr’s Warriors are among the perpetrators of the NBA’s rest issue this season as Kerr sat his top four guys against San Antonio earlier in the year and he offered to take a pay cut in order to shorten the schedule, so we’re well aware of what side of the issue he stands on.

However, Kerr’s former teammate Dennis Rodman isn’t a fan. Rodman ripped LeBron James for resting on a podcast recently, which got the attention of Kerr.

The Warriors coach found it very funny that Rodman of all people would complain about rest, because as Kerr noted, Rodman got plenty of rest in his own unique way.

“I saw Dennis Rodman was complaining about it,” Kerr said. “I got a kick out of that because Dennis was suspended for 15 games a year anyway. He’d have plenty of rest. Or [go to] Vegas or went to WrestleMania. He took a night off whenever he wanted, so he can’t complain.”

It’s a great quip from Kerr, who is always good for a solid joke in these scenarios. No matter how much former players want to yell about rest and the game being soft, it’s not going to change anything and the fact that the former players that are current coaches buy in should tell you all you need to know. That said, I really hope we get Rodman to come at Kerr now with some heat or some stories from their Bulls days.
