Steve Kerr Was Back At Warriors Practice But He’s Not Coaching Just Yet

Steve Kerr is back for the Golden State Warriors. Well, kind of. The head coach made an appearance at Warriors practice on Saturday and San Jose Mercury News beat writer Anthony Slater reported that Kerr has been involved in team meetings the last two days.

Slater managed to nab a photo of Kerr talking to Mike Brown at Warriors practice on Saturday as well. Kerr hasn’t been on the bench for Golden State since April 19 because of a back pain, but the Warriors are 6-0 without Kerr and seem to be cruising under acting head coach Mike Brown.

Though Kerr did not speak to the media, Stephen Curry was glad to have his head coach back and taking part in team meetings.

“It’s great any time you can hear his voice, see his face,” said Curry. “He’s obviously been doing his homework in between his down times helping us get prepared for this series and you know he misses being around for the day-to-day routine and the atmosphere, practice, locker room and games and all that. His ability to be here means a lot. I hope he’s feeling better.”

It’s unclear what Kerr’s role will be once the Western Conference Final starts on Sunday afternoon against the Spurs, but it’s looking like Kerr could be back this season after all.
