It’s not like this is anything new. Players use this sort of language on the regular, even if we always laugh when we hear grown men uttering this bit of balderdash on the playground. It’s not very biting, unless someone’s apt to let a player’s taunts of “p*ssy” actually get under their skin. You’re a p*ssy. See, you still feel pretty good about yourself. We take it back anyway.
After Joakim Noah used the same pejorative towards LeBron James, last night’s physical Game 5 in Cleveland saw Tristan Thompson scream the same towards Noah. He did it twice before TNT cameras went to a graphic.
Personally, we enjoy Noah’s muttered rubbish a little more than Thompson’s in-your-face brand, since we only really think nonsense like this rather than actually screaming it.
What a digression. We’ll talk about basketball again soon, if only to keep our own sanity.
