DeAndre Jordan Stars In Staples Center Lob Party

DeAndre Jordan only hit four field goals in five attempts during more than 38 minutes of game action against the visiting Jazz tonight. He made the 7-2 Rudy Gobert look like a small child caught with his hand in the cookie jar when Rudy Gobert overplayed DJ and got caught behind him for this doozy early in the Clippers’ 107-101 win. That was only the beginning, though….

We’ll get to the Gobert dunk, but first a quick note to teams going against the Clippers for the rest of the season. When Chris Paul is about to cross mid-court and DeAndre Jordan increases his speed while briefly turning his head to Paul, the ball is already in the air. You gotta beat DJ down the court, or this happens:

And lets take another couple looks at that Gobert dunk because it was remarkable, even by DJ standards.

Next, Jamal Crawford finds Jordan for yet another alley-oop…

We’ve already established Crawford is a special offensive force, able to twist and cavort his body and bend our perceptions of offensive basketball. So when he turns the corner after this Blake Griffin handoff near the top of the key, obviously he’s going to draw some attention. But it’s unlikely the only two Jazz players on the weak-side needed to address the ball in Crawford’s hands and/ an ice-cold Matt Barnes stationed above the break while leaving DJ alone under the iron:

Then again, even if one Jazz defender tried to follow DJ to the baseline, we still think it’s an oop. There just aren’t many people — if any — with his size and jumping ability on this planet.
