The Dunk Contest is arguably the most entertaining aspect of the NBA’s All-Star weekend. There is nothing better than watching a handful of the best athletes in the league do things that don’t seem like they should be physically possible with a basketball. I mean, dunking is a really hard thing that only a small number of people can do, so for a person to be able to do a 360-degree or between-the-legs dunk, it takes an insane mix of creativity and athleticism that not many people have.

Sometimes, though, moments in the Slam Dunk Contest that people remember the most involve an athlete failing spectacularly. This supercut highlights some of those moments, set to the perfect song – Hurt by Johnny Cash. It includes some of the most notable not-dunks in the history of the contest, with everything from Michael Finley hilariously attempting to do a cartwheel before a dunk in 1997, to Chris Andersen’s rough performance from 2005, to Andre Iguodala attempting to go up and under from behind the hoop and hitting his face on the backboard in 2006.

This year’s Dunk Contest field is absolutely loaded – in addition to defending champion and literal gravity defier Zach LaVine, we’re going to see Will Barton, Andre Drummond, and Aaron Gordon. We expect that all four are going to do some awesome stuff on Saturday night, so hopefully we don’t witness anything that could end up on a supercut like this some day.
