Dave Chappelle Takes Another Shot At Key And Peele At The Roots Picnic

For many, when Dave Chappelle walked away from his hit show Chappelle’s Show he left a void in the comedy world that wouldn’t be filled for years. Eventually, comedic duo Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele, better known as Key and Peele came through with their own brand of sketch humor and seemingly filled that void with a similar series while Dave made a return to standup. Everything was right in the world. For detractors, the similarity of their show Key And Peele to Chappelle Show was obvious, but that didn’t stop the show or the duo from being a huge success.

It appears Chappelle has noticed and agrees with the gripes because he seemingly dissed Key and Peele at the annual Roots Picnic festival in New York. According to Complex, before the video above starts Chappelle said, “put some respect on my name, y’all don’t know what I’ve been through.” The video picks up just as Dave quips, “…watching Key & Peele do my show the last five f***ing years.”

He could just be joking around because that’s what comedians do, but there could be some legitimate animosity. This is Dave Chappelle we’re talking about, after all. It’s not the first time Dave has taken a jab at Key and Peele and it probably won’t be the last.
