This Week In Posters: A Is For Avengers

There will probably be a slew of new movie posters coming out at Comic Con, what with Twilight: Breaking Dawn and robot ball punchers Real Steel reportedly decorating the facilities with endless reminders of their impending doom releases. Hell, even Boo Boo Stewart and a few other second tier Twilight cast members surprised their fans with breakfast this morning. After all, you need all the energy you can get to shriek and cry over 8 seconds of exclusive footage.
But the big poster of the week is The Avengers, above, which showcases stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner, Chris Hemsworth, and Scarlett Johannson in no detail whatsoever. It’s just a big A. But it also says, “Assemble” because that’s what the Avengers do. Whatever, you know a few thousand comic fans in San Diego flooded their drawers when they first saw this, so we can get a little more excited, too.
After the jump, the Smurfs take on China, Rise of the Planet of the Apes goes banner style on us, Servitude introduces its cast, and holy hell there are a lot of characters in The Three Musketeers.
UPDATE: I just added the newest Amazing Spiderman and Haywire posters. I know, I’m a hero.

Based on the book of the same name, The Hunger Games stars Jennifer Lawrence and Stanley Tucci. I’m sure there are other notable names but I’m stopping there and hoping for a graphic love scene between them. You can also check out the Hunger Games motion poster at Yahoo!, or you can save time and just shake your monitor.
FIRTH! Also with Gary Oldman and Tom Hardy, Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy is a story of British Cold War espionage. I think I’m reaching the point that I’ll watch anything with Hardy in it. I’m the same way with Clive Owen and Vanessa Hudgens.
Vince introduced us to this psychotic clown murder film last month, and the poster looks just as awesome as the trailer. Will this film win Best Picture at the Academy Awards? Yes. So now you don’t even have to watch. Just go the rest of your life answering, “The Last Circus” when someone asks who won.
It’s like all of the previous posters but now in banner form. Rejoice!
RoboPanda already posted the trailer earlier today, so I don’t need to explain any more about Dream House. Except maybe that my dream house is made of licorice.
Contagion is the film that looks like Outbreak but has Gwyneth Paltrow dying so it’s better.
Blackthorn is the story of Butch Cassidy (Sam Shepard) as an old man looking for one last score. They could have still made this with Paul Newman and called it Weekend at Cassidy’s.
*pours bottle of salad dressing on crotch*
And now, meet the cast of the latest installment of The Three Musketeers. Try not to wet yourselves with delight.
Servitude is about a pissed off restaurant staff that gets revenge on crappy customers and crappier management. Has anyone pointed out how much this sounds like Waiting? No? I’m such a pioneer.
I’d like to see a Smurfs movie where they actually go to China, because they’d think Smurfette was a little baby girl and they chase her around trying to throw her into the Yellow River. Hey Hollywood execs, yellow and blue makes green.
