WEEKEND PREVIEW

By / 09.07.07

Since it's becoming clear that Uwe Boll isn't man enough to fight me (email him at UBoll40163@aol.com if you want him to step up), I've decided to finish off each week with news you can use.  Without further a doo doo, here's the first weekly FilmDrunk weekend preview.

Opening Today:
Shoot 'Em Up – Clive Owen, Paul Giamatti, Monica Bellucci.  Tits, gunfire, Nirvana songs. One of my favorite actors, my secret man-crush, and a voluptuous Italian chick. You'd have to pay me not to see it.
3:10 to Yuma – Russell Crowe and Christian Bale do an old Elmore Leonard story.  Great early buzz.  Yeah, I'll see that.
The Brothers Solomon – Will Arnett, Will Forte, and Kristen Wiig. It could be funny, but I doubt it. I'll check it out if it gets half the rave reviews Superbad got.

Fierce People (limited release)- Donald Sutherland, Diane Lane. Looks like a less funny, Freckletits-free Mean Girls. But it also looks like it's got plenty of nudity.
The Good Night (limited release)- Danny DeVito, Gwyneth Paltry, Penal Lope Cruz, Simon Pegg. Can't decide if my love of Simon Pegg outweighs my hatred of Hollywood nepotism.
Hatchet (limited release) – British people. Could be bad enough to be awesome. But they quoted Harry Knowles in the trailer.
The Hunting Party (limited release) – Terrence Howard, Richard Gere. Howard's a great actor. Gere is the opposite of that.  Reviews have been good so far.  YAHOO!
In the Shadow of the Moon (limited release) – Documentary about the Apollo Space program. Hey, I'm always game for a documentary. Plus, no Ron Howard.
Romance and Cigarettes (limited release) – I avoid musicals like I avoid fighting guys with cauliflower ears, but the trailer doesn't look half bad. But beware: A movie that has Jim Gandolfini, Susan Sarandon, Kate Winslet, Steve Buscemi, Christopher Walken, Mandy Moore, Amy Sedaris, and Eddie Izzard, and has John Turturro and the Coen brothers involved behind the camera that still can't get a wider release, is a movie that someone out there thought had serious problems.  Then again, Hollywood execs are notoriously retard-like.

Enjoy your weekend, space dockers.
