Add to the list of reasons you shouldn’t be so harsh on George Lucas the fact that his daughter could probably kick your ass. Wait, did I say reasons? Okay, reason. George Lucas’ oldest daughter Amanda, 1-1 in professonal MMA, was scheduled to take on Heather Martin at Freestyle Cage Fighting 46 Saturday night in Shawnee, Oklahoma. A jiu-jitsu purple belt training out of Fairtex and Gilbert Melendez’ gym in San Francisco, Lucas showed up to the weigh-ins two pounds below the 165-pound limit. Unfortunately, her opponent showed up a badonkadonkulous 13 pounds over and Lucas withdrew from the fight. In related news, “Too Fat to Fight” is the name of my indie band.
“While she was willing to fight tomorrow, she was in no condition to,” Lucas informed MMAFighting.com. “I came to fight at 165 pounds and fighting at 180 pounds or whatever amount she ended up at was not what I came to do. For five months I did everything in my power to make weight and show up in fight shape.”
“This is a professional sport, one I take seriously, and in which I dedicate my life to,” Lucas said. “To fight someone in her condition or to fight someone way beyond the contracted weight is bad for both myself, and women’s MMA.” [MMAFighting]
In Martin’s defense, she was probably just having her period. It would’ve been like Carrie out there.
