The Perks of Being a Wallflower Trailer Needs More Paul Rudd

I haven’t read The Perks of Being a Wallflower, published by MTV Books, because my tolerance for “whiny loserdom” is about as high as Vince’s. Speaking of: where is Vince today? Oh, y’know, he’s just coming-of-age by standing up in a car somewhere, wedging his body through the sunroof and metaphorically spreading his wings while a generic indie rock song plays. HE’S THAT FREE-SPIRITED. Anyway, Perks, whose trailer was released last night, looks like the teenage, less 9/11-y version of Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, albeit with the increasingly attractive Emma Watson and Paul Rudd as an English teacher. I would read To Kill a Mockingbird so hard for that guy.

As ever, this novel-turned-movie shouldn’t be confused with VH1 Books’ The Perks of Being in the Wallflowers: The Bassist from the Wallflowers’ Story. Too many headlights.
