Scary Movie 5 promises to be another hard-hitting satire

Flurp. Flurbity ding dong.

Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan are getting the ax in Dimension Films’ Scary Movie 5.
Sheen and Lohan will play what is being described by the studio as “the world’s hottest new couple” and be killed in the movie’s opening sequence.
Each Scary Movie has thrust a celebrity or two into its opening just to kill them in an over-the-top way. Sheen and Lohan will follow Pamela Anderson, Shaquille O’Neal, Dr. Phil and others into the pantheon of the dead.
Ashley Tisdale and Erica Ash are starring the latest movie, directed by Malcolm Lee and co-written and produced by comedy legend David Zucker. Zucker worked on the Airplane! and Naked Gun movies, and he wrote and directed Scary Movie 3 and 4, both of which Sheen appeared in.
The movie is due to begin shooting September with an eye toward an April 19 release.

So the guy who wrote Airplane! and Naked Gun went on to do Scary Movie 3, 4, and 5 and helped launch the careers of Seltzer and Friedberg, and now he’s putting Charlie Sheen and Lindsay Lohan in his movie? Getting old sucks, is basically what I’m getting from this. Yo, Zuck, it’s 2012. The novelty of b-personalities doing stuff kind of wore off when it became, well… all of TV. The outrageousity of Charlie Sheen getting killed goes way down when you can watch a midget give birth on the toilet on “The Learning Channel.” Also, a good sign that a joke has run its course? It already had its own nation-wide comedy tour and televised roast on comedy central.
