Channing Tatum Wants To Play X-Men’s Gambit With A Real Cajun Accent

While making the rounds for the hilariously wonderful summer action film White House Down, Jamie Foxx was asked by Total Film’s Matt Risley if we can expect to see his Electro character from the upcoming The Amazing Spider-Man 2 continue on to be a part of the Sinister Six plot that is being teased. Foxx said he would and perhaps gave a little spoiler that “electricity never dies, it just goes to a different place,” but the real news came after that question when Channing Tatum was asked if he’d like to get his superhero freak nasty on.

C-Tates said that he’s definitely down, and of all the characters that he could have his pick from, he’d like to tackle Gambit in The X-Men franchise, because he’s kind of sort of from around and lives near New Orleans, so he’d like to portray him with a real Cajun accent.

Three things about this:

1) I love how he’s like, “Because I’m from New Orleans” but before anyone can chime in with, “Um, no you’re not” he responds with “Around that area” and before anyone can say, “Well, not really” he finally says, “My dad’s from New Orleans.” And that qualifies him to do it with a Cajun accent.

2) Did he just say, “No knock on Taylor Kitsch, dogg…” Dude’s finally embracing the persona I’ve created for him.
