Charlie Countryman, from relative newbie director Fredrik Bond, has a heavy-hitter cast that includes Evan Rachel Wood, Mads Mikkelsen, Melissa Leo, Til Schweiger, Vincent D’onofrio, and John Hurt, and follows lead Shia LaBeouf on his adventures in Bucharest after sitting next to a dead guy on the plane. I believe he also falls for a crime boss’s girlfriend. Has this plot ever been tried before??
According to the trailer’s copious pull quotes, the film seems to have generated a decent amount of acclaim*, not only for the film, but for Shia LaBeouf’s performance itself. I’m just hoping it will finally answer the question “why do people keep hiring this turbo doofus?”
Is it just me or does the sound mix on this suck huge balls? Soaring music is great and all, but being able to understand what the hell people are saying should be job one.
Opens in theaters and OnDemand November 15th.
*Though its 33% recommended rating on RottenTomatoes would seem to disagree.
