In this new co-promo for Neighbors (opening May 9th!) and ESPN, Seth Rogen and Zac Efron meet world’s biggest 49ers draft whiff, Aaron Rodgers, whom Rogen identifies as “The State Farm Guy.” I’d like to think they felt at least a tiny bit queasy biting a joke from an insurance ad, but who knows.
In this case though, the joke is that Seth Rogen is so… Comedic? Jewish? Canadian? …that he doesn’t recognize famous quarterback Aaron Rodgers. “Is your brother Eli?” he asks.
Meanwhile, Zac Efron, because he’s such a hyper masculine sports bro, immediately recognizes Aaron Rodgers for who he is, and probably even has him on his fantasy team. I guess I’m not surprised that Zac Efron is a sports fan, I just always assumed he was more into basketball.
