At some point in the near future, LeBron James is going to make his major motion picture acting debut. Sure, he’s already had his own animated TV series, The LeBrons, and he has achieved thespian immortality by making his acting debut as himself on Entourage, but that IMDB profile ain’t going to fill itself with quality roles on its own, am I right? Originally, it seemed that James would make his debut opposite Kevin Hart in the basketball comedy Ballers, but the King is no slouch on the hardwood and he won’t settle for just any role in any movie, so he has joined the cast of Judd Apatow’s next guaranteed big hit, Trainwreck.
According to Deadline, Apatow will direct the film that was written by Amy Schumer, who will also star alongside Bill Hader, Tilda Swinton, Brie Larson, Colin Quinn, Mike Birbiglia, Vanessa Bayer and, you guessed it, John Cena. You really have to admire James’s balls to make Trainwreck his movie acting debut, considering he’s not only going to be sharing the screen with another world famous professional athlete, but Cena already has a huge head start on the King in terms of acting. I mean, just look at what James will be up against…
The way he yells, “Sorry!” after he crushes those cars? I actually thought that he was sorry. I do not envy the work cut out for Mr. James.
