Jennifer Jason Leigh (Not Lawrence) Will Play The Lead In Tarantino’s ‘The Hateful Eight’

If there’s one thing that Quentin Tarantino is good at, it’s guessing a girl’s shoe size from 100-feet away. But if there’s another thing that he’s good at, it’s writing a role that is so awesome that some of the biggest actors in Hollywood would probably fight each other for it, if he cracked a pool cue over his knee and threw the two pieces in front of them. The latest such role is Daisy Domergue, the lead character in his upcoming Western The Hateful Eight, which almost never happened because of that whole script leak fiasco involving someone who is still in the movie. So which huge A-list actress earned the coveted role of Daisy and shall be the envy of all of her peers?

Does Jennifer Jason Leigh qualify as an A-lister? Because it’s her. According to The Wrap, instead of the big names that included Hilary Swank, Robin Wright, Michelle Williams, Demi Moore (who is ripe for a John Travolta/Pulp Fiction comeback), and Jennifer Lawrence, if you believed that whole “she might if she has time” rumor, Tarantino decided to go with the 52-year old actress, who was actually on hand for The Hateful Eight script read in April, although she wasn’t participating. Daisy is a post-Civil War female prisoner who is accused of murder, and she ends up spending the night with two bounty hunters and a sheriff in Wyoming, and the result is hardly romantic! Mostly because there are four other dudes there who probably want to help her escape.

Leigh joins Bruce Dern, Samuel L. Jackson, Walton Goggins, Kurt Russell, Michael Madsen, Tim Roth and Zoe Bell, among others on Tarantino’s list of script leak suspects that he’ll totally punish one of these days.
