Rufio, Randall Park, And Every Asian Bad Guy From The 80s Star In The Trailer For ‘Awesome Asian Bad Guys’

You probably don’t remember, but many moons ago, I had Stephen Dypianco and Patrick Epino from PBS’s National Film Society on the Frotcast to talk about their Kickstarter project, Awesome Asian Bad Guys. Amazingly, they got it funded. Even more amazingly, they didn’t blow all the money on fast cars and fast women. Awesome Asian Bad Guys is completed, and it’s coming out in a week. And now there’s a trailer.

An irreverent homage to the nameless, expendable, yet imposing villains of ’80s & ’90s action flicks, AWESOME ASIAN BAD GUYS plunges a ragtag group of Asian “bad guy” actors into a deadly mission to take down LA’s most nefarious mob boss. The cast includes Randall Park (The Interview, Fresh Off the Boat), Al Leong (Die Hard, Lethal Weapon), Dante Basco (Hook), Yuji Okumoto (The Karate Kid, Part II), Tamlyn Tomita (Joy Luck Club, The Karate Kid, Part II), George Cheung (Rambo: First Blood Part II), and Aaron Takahashi (The Wedding Ringer) with major YouTubers such as Wong Fu Productions, Wendy Nguyen (Wendy’s Lookbook), and AJ Rafael.

You know that cast, even if you think you don’t. Look, it’s the bad guy from Karate Kid Part II!

And it’s nice to see that he’s stayed in shape:

Man, that franchise was awesome before Will Smith and his dumb wiener kids ruined it.

Anyway, Awesome Asian Bad Guys hits all the usual online places June 23. As far as I’m concerned, anything that involves Randall Park and the guy from this commercial is at least worth a look.

(Aaron Takahashi, incidentally).
