Indie Anchor Bay Studio has bought the rights to Fred Durst’s directorial debut, The Education of Charlie Banks, and plans to give it a theatrical release some time in spring 2008.
This marks the first theatrical release for Durst since the hissy fit he threw at the House of Blues in Cincinnati when they ran out of hot pockets backstage.
Jesse Eisenberg ("The Squid and the Whale") plays the title character, a high school student who witnesses a local bully savagely beating two teens at a party. Years after giving and rescinding his testimony to the police, the past comes back to haunt him when the bully shows up at his college and enters his life. [Yahoo]
Next up for Durst is a film about an 11-year-old who becomes the first girl to play Pop Warner football. Ice Cube is set to play the girl’s uncle. Reached for comment, Durst said, "Now I know y’all be lovin’ this shit right here," and spilled nachos on himself.
